Cancer treatments are provided in the Medical Oncology Unit, an outpatient area that provides comprehensive medical care to people with cancer, blood disorders and autoimmune diseases. We provide a variety of infusions and injections for cancer and non cancer related conditions. Our goal is to provide patients excellent care in a community based hospital close to home. We have specially trained nurses who provide care as a part of a larger team of healthcare professionals. The oncology nurses are a vital part of a collaborative team of pharmacy, social work, cancer patient navigator, chaplains, and palliative care. This Medical Oncology team works closely with community medical oncologists and radiation oncologists, primary care physicians and other specialty physicians to create a comprehensive plan of care.
We provide our patients with individual assessments, patient and family education and comprehensive, individual plan of care. The following services are available in our outpatient Oncology Department:
- Chemotherapy and Biotherapy
- Blood transfusions
- Anemia Treatments
- Central Venous Catheter management including blood draws
- Bone Marrow Biopsies
- Infusions for the treatments of:
- Multiple Sclerosis
The Outpatient Oncology Team provides patients and families with an introductory patient orientation session to assess the needs of both the patient and family and follows up with ongoing education as the patient moves though treatment. It is our hope that this extensive education and support throughout the treatment regimen gives patients and families both the resources and confidence to manage their diseases and treatment options. We strive to provide exceptional care that is considerate and compassionate.
The Outpatient Oncology Team focus is on the continum of care with our patients and view their medical history, monitor lab levels and evaluate each treatment regimen. Our team also communicates with the ordering physician involved in each patient’s health care.
