Maui Memorial’s Emergency Department (ED) is managed by an outstanding team of emergency medical personnel, comprised of board-certified emergency medicine physicians, nurses and support staff.
The ED is located at the back of the hospital and is accessible from Mahalani Street – please turn at the entrance marked with Emergency signage. There are designated Emergency parking stalls in front of the ED; general parking is also available in adjacent lots.
What to Expect
All patients coming to the Emergency Department should check in with the Triage Nurse upon arrival. The Triage Nurse will take a brief history, and if required, record vital signs and determine the severity of your condition. Everyone who comes to our ED will be seen, regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay.
We use a process called triage to determine which patients need the most immediate medical attention. Please note that your wait time could be affected by the number of patients in our ED and the severity of their conditions. Our staff is committed to seeing and treating all patients as quickly as possible. We will do everything possible to make you comfortable and provide all patients with appropriate medical attention. Please let us know if there is something you need while you wait.
Once you are transferred into the treatment area of the Emergency Department you will be assessed by both nursing and medical staff. It may be necessary to perform additional tests to determine the extent of the problem.
