Joint Commission - 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures

MMMC was recognized as a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. MMMC was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2014 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.  MMMC is one of 1,224 hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2013 Top Performer distinction.

Legacy of Life Award 

Maui Memorial Medical Center, attained an 88% Conversion Rate in 2010, converting seven of eight potential donors.  In May 2011, the hospital was presented an Organ Donation Medal of Honor by Legacy of Life Hawaii.  Maui Memorial Medical Center was the first hospital to receive the award and continues to be a leader in donation rates. The hospital has received the Organ Donation Medal of Honor consecutively from 2005 through 2007.

Mission Lifeline Award                                                                                   

Per the Hawaii Health Information Consortium, MMMC was also noted for the lowest readmission rates in Hawaii for Acute Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack) and Pneumonia in 2014.
