Dear Maui Memorial Medical Center,
I wanted to send a note of thanks for the care I received during a recent stay at MMMC, specifically, from Dr. Lee, Dr. Chambers and Dr. Milne.
I had a mild heart attack in January. I admitted myself and went through the battery of tests. An angiogram showed a 95% blockage in the main artery on the left side of my heart. I’ve recently heard this referred to as the ‘Widow Maker.’ Luckily for my wife and me, I was one of MMMC’s very early recipients of Dr. Lee’s and Dr. Chambers’ expertise. They placed a stent in the area of my blockage and I’m back to normal, actually better than normal. It was like magic.
To this point, I’d never spent a day in the hospital, so this was a foreign experience. Since I didn’t really fit the risk profile of someone who would have this happen at my age, I was shocked with finding myself in the hospital. I was generally miserable, but the entire staff was terrific. Everyone I came in contact with was friendly, helpful and made me feel as comfortable as possible.
I feel very fortunate to have caught this early and that MMMC has its new cardiac facilities and the expertise of these terrific doctors. I had the most contact with Dr. Lee. I can’t say enough about his caring demeanor. While I was anxious and nervous about what was happening, he made me feel like I was in very confident and competent hands. Now that I’m a statistic for your vision of expanding the MMMC cardiac care unit, all’s well that ends well and for that I’m truly grateful.
Aloha and Mahalo,
